Finally a Break

Well, I survived two weeks of finals and I only failed one test out of 10 (in pharmacology, my least favorite subject). I feel pretty good about my performance since I've really realized how hard it is to study with an infant. They take up a lot of your time and he's so cute I can't help but hold him all the time. So for now I am still in the game, and I plan to change some study habits to make up for the test I failed.

Things have been interesting in our family the last month. Erik, Steve's brother in law, got in an accident at work the night before Thanksgiving. He got his arm caught in a machine that corrugates cardboard. It was a miracle that he still has his arm and his life. The machine could have easily killed him, but one of his coworkers came by in the nick of time and shut of the machine. He has been in and out of the hospital since that night and just had major reconstruction on the injured had. The Dr's aren't sure how much use he will have in the hand since there was a lot of muscle and tendon damage, but they have so far been able to save the hand and arm. He is in a lot of pain and we pray for healing for him and strength for his family. I've been trying to help take care of the kids (Julia is 5 and Matthew is 13) while their mom spends most of her time at the hospital. Now that finals are over I hope to be more helpful.

Dietrich is doing great, but growing up too fast!! He's a big boy, he was 12 1/2 pounds at 2 months old. He's already outgrown most of his 0-3 month clothes and he's not even 3 months yet!! He gives us so much joy. He holds up his head pretty well now, likes to punch and kick a lot, says "a-goo" and "ma", and smiles and laughs (although the laughing is mostly in his sleep. What do babies dream about anyways?) I love him more than anything in this world and am amazed that the love I have for him is only a fraction of the love God has for me. Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving, isn't he cute in his outfit and with his cousins!!

Im glad you got through it all! I will add Erik to the prayer list at church and best wishes on his recovery and the time needed for healing for his family.

Hope your holiday is a time for rest.
